The human presence is everywhere. From the embedded cement in the earth, to the discarded bottle of water caressing the ground in which it lays. Our lasting existence is extended through the objects we’ve once given purpose to, but dispose of to create room for something else. For this body of work, I focus on the fleeting relationship between objects and humans. Someone’s once used object is now decaying, longing for use in an environment that shares the same abandonment. Interacting with the remnants of another person has allowed me to give new purpose and life to the deserted material. The tension between the object itself and the habitat it encompasses allows for a new way of perceiving them together. The push and pull of natural and unnatural is what intrigues me the most. Trash and abundance. Reinvigorating mundane items gave me an opportunity to breathe new life into them; whether that’s through physically interacting, or visualizing something more.
